Activate AMS and create AMS account
Overview
This article walks you through activating the AccelByte Multiplayer Servers (AMS) add-on in your namespace, creating an AMS account, and linking an AMS account across game namespaces.
In Shared Cloud, the AMS add-on is available for a free trial with the following limitations:
- The free trial will expire 90 days after activation.
- You can create only one AMS account, which you can link to the game namespaces in your studio.
- You will have access to:
- 1 ttx1.s AMS instance (2 vCPUs, 2 GB RAM) for 2,160 hours (90 days)
- 224 GiB of network egress available for up to four players at ~60kbps per player for 2,160 hours (90 days)
- You can create up to three fleets, which you can assign to the North America East region only.
- You can upload and maintain up to 50 GiB of dedicated server images.
You can keep track of your AMS usage in your studio namespace. Go to your studio namespace and click on Usage on the sidebar. On the Usage page, you will see your AMS usage information and for every other add-on you've enabled in your AGS account.
Prerequisites
- Access to the AccelByte Gaming Services (AGS) Admin Portal.
- In AGS Shared Cloud, an existing studio and a game namespace.
- In AGS Private Cloud, an existing publisher and a game namespace.
Activate AMS in your namespace
- AGS Shared Cloud
- AGS Private Cloud
Go to your studio namespace on the AGS Admin Portal.
On the homepage, go to the Add-ons section. You will see the option to activate AMS.
Click on the the Activate AMS button. A pop-up showing the AMS limitations on Shared Cloud appears.
Click on Start Free Trial. AMS is now activated in your studio and across your game namespaces. You can proceed to creating an AMS account.
As a Private Cloud customer, the AMS add-on can be enabled in your AGS environment by request. Contact your AccelByte Account Manager or Technical Producer for more information.
Create an AMS account
When an AMS account is created from a game namespace, the account is automatically linked to that namespace. AMS supports account linking across game namespaces to share resources such as server images, observability account and metrics, and a billing account. See Link your AMS account to your games.
- AGS Shared Cloud
- AGS Private Cloud
In Shared Cloud, you can only create one AMS account, which you can later on link to your other game namespaces.
To create an AMS account, follow these steps:
Go to your game namespace on the AGS Admin Portal.
On the sidebar, under the ADD-ONS menu, select AccelByte Multiplayer Servers. The AMS welcome page appears.
In the Set up AMS account section, type in a name for your AMS account.
Click Create, then click Yes on the pop-up. The details page of your AMS account appears.
After you create your AMS account, the full functionality and user interface for AMS will be enabled under the AccelByte Multiplayer Servers menu on the Admin Portal sidebar.
In AGS Private Cloud, you can link one AMS account across multiple namespaces as well as across multiple AGS environments. Using one AMS account per game lets you link that AMS account to your DEV and PROD environments so you only have to upload a dedicated server image build once, validate it in DEV, and deploy it in PROD without having to re-upload the dedicated server image multiple times.
If you have multiple AGS environments and/or multiple game namespaces, see Link your AMS account to your games for how to link your AMS account to them.
Link AMS account
When an AMS account is created from a game namespace, the account is automatically linked to that namespace. AMS supports account linking across game namespaces to share resources such as server images, observability account and metrics, and a billing account.
To link an AMS account to a game namespace, follow these steps, in this order:
Generate linking token from linked game namespace
In the AGS Admin Portal, go into the game namespace where you created your AMS account.
On the sidebar, go to any of the components under the AccelByte Multiplayer Servers menu (e.g., Fleet Manager).
In the upper-right corner on the page of your selected component, you will see AMS Account:
<account name and info>
. Click or your account name. The AMS Account page appears.Click the + Generate New Linking button.
On the New Linking Token pop-up that appears, copy the linking token.
noteThis token will expire after the date and time shown on this pop-up.
You will apply this linking token to an unlinked game namespace to link the AMS account to that namespace. Proceed to the next section.
Link AMS account to an unlinked game namespace
- In the AGS Admin Portal, go to the unlinked game namespace.
- On the sidebar, go to AccelByte Multiplayer Servers > Set up AMS Account.
- On the Setup AMS Account page, click Already have an AMS Account? to expand it.
- Enter (paste) your linking token into the Linking Token field and click the Link button.
- On the Link AMS Account confirmation pop-up, type in the name of your game namespace in the field and click the Link button.
Your game namespace is now linked with your AMS account.
Verify linked game namespaces
To check if a game namespace has an AMS account linked to it, follow these steps:
- In the AGS Admin Portal, go into the game namespace that you want to check.
- On the sidebar, under ADD-ONS, select AccelByte Multiplayer Servers.
- Verify that the namespace is linked to an AMS account.
- If an account is linked to the namespace, the full functionality and user interface for AMS will be enabled under the AccelByte Multiplayer Servers menu on the Admin Portal sidebar.
- If an account is NOT linked to this namespace, AccelByte Multiplayer Servers will only have the Setup AMS Account option.
