Overview

The AccelByte Analytics service is an end-to-end solution for the collection, storage, processing, and export of game-related performance data. With the AccelByte Analytics tools developers and LiveOps staff can understand the performance of their game. This understanding is in terms of player engagement, in-game player behavior (including how players interact with the game environment), Matchmaking, and Monetization through both first and third-party platforms.

Easy-to-use web-based reporting allows developers and liveops staff to view critical engagement metrics, including player Monthly Active Users (MAU), Daily Active Users (DAU), player retention, as well as matchmaking and game session performance. Metrics are summarized at hourly, daily, or monthly levels. Data can also be exported to CSV files, for exploration in other tools.

The custom telemetry feature allows arbitrary custom events to be logged in a structured format, via the Client SDK or the Server SDK. Use this feature to log meaningful information about player interaction within the game. Custom telemetry events can be exported to other systems or retrieved via the web-based administration portal.

AccelByte Analytics provides a number of connectors to facilitate near real-time export of data of live services events to external systems. These systems include Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and Snowflake. By leveraging these connectors, a game studio can create custom data pipelines providing complete visibility into the game's performance.

Using these tools and game client instrumentation, game developers can get valuable insights into their players. Understanding a game's player base is an essential element in designing and delivering relevant content:

  • During playtesting, use custom telemetry to log player interaction with the content. For example, are players finding all the quest givers, using all the weapons, or exploring all the areas? What percentage of time do they spend on different activities?

  • AccelByte Analytics can allow you to understand the meta of the game and address any balance issues with the content. This is particularly useful for weapon balancing in FPS titles. Discover and address items and abilities that are over or under-powered.

  • After launch, use AccelByte Analytics to understand how your game is performing in the market. Player engagement and retention metrics provide key insights. See the effects of marketing campaigns directly in your data.
