Create an AMS account
Overview
This page walks you through activating AccelByte Multiplayer Servers (AMS) in your namespace and creating an AMS account in the AGS Admin Portal or with the AGS CLI.
For AccelByte Public Cloud customers, refer to the AMS instance types and pricing page for more information about your free trial benefits related to AMS.
Prerequisites
- Access to the AccelByte Gaming Services (AGS) Admin Portal.
- In AccelByte Public Cloud, an existing studio and a game namespace.
- In AGS Private Cloud, an existing publisher and a game namespace.
- To follow the AGS CLI steps, install the AGS CLI and sign in with an account that has access to these features. See Install and sign in. The examples use a Bash shell.
Activate AMS in your namespace
The AGS CLI has no command to activate AMS. In AccelByte Public Cloud, activate it in the Admin Portal. In AGS Private Cloud, request activation from AccelByte. Both are described below.
- AccelByte Public Cloud
- AGS Private Cloud
-
Go to your studio namespace on the AccelByte Admin Portal.
-
On the homepage, go to the AMS section and click the Start Free trial button. A pop-up showing the AMS free trial limitations appears.
-
Click Start Free Trial. AMS is now activated in your studio and across your game namespaces. You can proceed to creating an AMS account.
As a Private Cloud customer, AMS can be enabled in your AGS environment by request. Contact your AccelByte Account Manager or submit an AMS activation request via the Accelbyte Customer Support Portal.
Create an AMS account
When an AMS account is created from a game namespace, the account is automatically linked to that namespace. AMS supports account linking across game namespaces to share resources such as server images, observability account and metrics, and a billing account. Refer to the Link your AMS account to your games page for more information.

In Public Cloud, you can only create one AMS account, which you can later on link to your other game namespaces.
To create an AMS account, follow these steps:
-
Go to your game namespace on the AccelByte Admin Portal.
-
On the sidebar, select AMS. The AMS welcome page appears.
-
In the Set up AMS account section, type in a name for your AMS account.
-
Click Create, then click Yes on the pop-up. The details page of your AMS account appears.
After you create your AMS account, the full functionality and user interface for AMS will be enabled under the AMS menu on the Admin Portal sidebar.
In AGS Private Cloud, you can link one AMS account across multiple namespaces as well as across multiple AGS environments. Using one AMS account per game lets you link that AMS account to your DEV and PROD environments so you only have to upload a dedicated server image build once, validate it in DEV, and deploy it in PROD without having to re-upload the dedicated server image multiple times.
