Release 0.5.3

Last updated on October 20, 2026

Overview

AGS CLI 0.5.3 is a patch release on top of 0.5.2. Each item below is tagged with the area it affects. Both items in this release affect [Extend].

Scripts that call ags extend tunnel keep working in this release, unless they pass --pod-name. To upgrade from 0.5.1 or 0.5.2, run ags update --install.

Highlights

[Extend] The database tunnel command has a new name

ags extend tunnel is renamed to ags extend database-tunnel. The new name says what the command connects to: an Extend database, which can be NoSQL, SQL, or Key Value Store.

ags extend database-tunnel -r my-database -p 27017 --namespace my-game

The command opens a port on localhost and forwards it to the database. It keeps running until you press Ctrl+C. It has two required flags:

  • --resource-name (-r): the Resource Name shown on the database's page in the Admin Portal.
  • --local-port (-p): the port on localhost that your database client connects to.

These short flags are the same as in extend-helper-cli.

The old name still works in 0.5.3. ags extend tunnel runs the same command, but it no longer appears in ags extend --help. It will be removed in a later release, so use ags extend database-tunnel in your scripts.

--pod-name is no longer a flag on this command. A database tunnel does not use a pod name, so the flag never changed what the command did. If a script passes --pod-name, remove the flag. Otherwise the command stops with the error Unexpected argument '--pod-name' found.

If you are moving from extend-helper-cli, see Migrate from extend-helper-cli.

Improvements

  • [Extend] ags extend --help describes its commands with the terms that the Extend documentation uses: environment variables and secrets, Extend App UI, Extend app container registry, Remote Debug, and container logs. Each shortcut row still shows the ags csm command that the shortcut forwards to.
