AMS instance types and pricing

Overview

This page contains pricing information on the following:

  • Virtual machine (VM) and bare metal instances offered by AccelByte Multiplayer Servers (AMS)
  • Data transferred from your dedicated servers to your players and vice versa

AccelByte offers a range of instance families designed to cater to different performance requirements, allowing you to select the best fit for your gaming workload:

NameProviderRecommended for
VM instancesAmazon Web Services (AWS)Customers with unpredictable peak loads who want to avoid long-term commitments. VM instances offer flexible pricing, allowing you to pay only for what you use, and can be set up in minutes, making them ideal for testing different configurations. While they come with higher costs and metered data transfer charges, cloud servers provide flexible RAM and CPU options, making them suitable for customers with smaller player bases.
Bare metal instancesservers.comCustomers seeking cost-effective, stable performance, particularly for running game base loads or development fleets. Bare metal instances feature larger local disks, generally lower costs than comparable VMs, and no data transfer charges. With no hypervisor overhead, users can achieve maximum hardware performance, making them a smart choice for predictable workloads.
AGS Shared Cloud

Currently, only VM instances are available for AGS Shared Cloud customers. Refer to the AGS Shared Cloud section for more information about your free trial benefits related to AMS.

VM instances

The VM instances offered by AccelByte are provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

info

A vCPU of a VM instance maps to a hyperthread on a physical CPU.

Types

AMS offers the following VM instance types:

The glx1 family

With a vCPU to Memory ratio of 1vCPU:4GB, this general purpose family offers a balance of compute, memory, and network performance that is suitable for running most game workloads at low total cost of ownership. The glx1 family is powered by the following processors:

  • Third-generation AMD EPYC processors (up to AMD EPYC 7R13)
  • AMD EPYC 7000 series Processors (7571)

The cpx1 family

This compute-optimized family has a 1vCPU:2GB vCPU to Memory ratio. This is ideal for game workloads that are more CPU intensive. The cpx1 family is powered by the following processors:

  • Third-generation AMD EPYC processors (up to AMD EPYC 7R13)
  • Third-generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors (up to Ice Lake 8375C)

The mex1 family

This high-performance family comes with a 1vCPU:8GB vCPU to Memory ratio on a faster CPU. This is ideal for game workloads with high demand on CPU, memory, and network. The mex1 family is powered by the following processors:

  • Third-generation AMD EPYC processors (up to AMD EPYC 7R13)
  • Third-generation Intel® Xeon® Processors (up to Ice Lake 8375C)

The ttx1 family

This cost-saving family comes with two vCPUs and either 2 GiB or 4 GiB of memory. This family is ideal for helping you save money while you are developing your game, and is not recommended for running production dedicated servers. The ttx1 memory is powered by the following processors:

  • First- or second-generation Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8000 series processor (Skylake-SP or Cascade Lake)
  • Third-generation AMD EPYC 7000 series processors (up to AMD EPYC 7571)
