Smart Build staging phase takes too long

Last updated on September 6, 2024

Overview

As of this article's update date, AccelByte Development Toolkit (ADT) has a known issue where the staging phase on a smart build download takes a long time in Windows. This issue is caused by the cache folder being scanned by the Windows antivirus tool at the same time ADT Hub's Smart Build component checks on the cached files. This takes up a significant amount of the computer's RAM, CPU, and disk space.

Troubleshooting steps

To avoid this issue, you can exclude the cache folder from the antivirus scan function. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Windows Security settings.

  2. Under Virus & threat protection, click on Manage settings.

  3. In the Exclusions section, click on Add or Remove Exclusions and exclude the game installation directory and the cache directory for Smart Build.

    Add an Exclusion folder

    tip

By default, the paths for these directories are as follows:

    • Game installation directory: C:\Users\<pc_name>\AppData\Roaming\ADT Hub\builds
    • Smart Build cache directory: C:\Users\<pc_name>\AppData\Roaming\ADT Hub\app-storage\local-cache

To find the specific paths for these directories, open ADT Hub, click on your namespace, and click on Application Settings. On the Application Settings window, you can find the paths in the Game Installation Directory and Cache directory for Smart Build sections.
